A defiant century by Abhilash Mallick went in vain as host Odisha suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Gujarat on the fourth and last day of their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy Under-22 Elite Group-C match at Nimpur ground here today. Chasing an easy target of 65 runs in the second innings, the visitors clinched victory in the 17th over, losing two wickets in the process. Gujarat gained five points for their win, while Odisha drew blank. Gujarat pace bowler M Patel achieved a hat-trick in the first innings.
